Many traders don't care about what a stock or futures contract is past knowing what it costs, that is fine for them and I wish them the best of luck. Many of these guys argue that as the market is for the most part efficient it would be impossible to gain anything from having a fundamental view, this would only confuse them and create emotional biases that would impede their ability to perceive price trends and changes.
For those who want to broaden their horizons, there are many who combine the best of fundamental analysis with technical analysis. Most stock traders would prefer to get into growth stocks and exciting concept stocks because they know these often have the biggest moves.
In the stocks section of this FAQ I talk about William O'Neil and his "CANSLIM" system of stock trading. This is a classic example of a growth and momentum trader who uses fundamental analysis to pick stocks, and technical analysis (including price momentum) to establish buying points and a stop-loss selling method for limiting downside moves.
